2022 NFL Mock Draft (2/8/2022)- Post Senior Bowl (With Trades!)

Image
This is my first 2022 Mock Draft since the Senior Bowl took place down in Mobile, and from that event we gleaned a lot of information about numerous prospects up and down the board. We got our first real official measurements, see a lot of individual and one on one battles, and got a really fun to watch game on top of it. Many players saw their draft stocks rise or fall during the week and this mock draft hopes to reflect those changing opinions.  This mock draft does involve trades. For the purpose of fairness, all trades are assumed to be purely draft pick based, with no players involved. 1.) Jacksonville Jaguars - Evan Neal, OT, Alabama     With having back to back 1st Overall picks after drafting Trevor Lawrence last year, it is clear that this team needs help at almost every position on the roster. While it is tempting to take one of the top edge rushers, the Jaguars need to invest in protecting and supporting Lawrence and that should start with their offensive line. Neal looks to

(2022) Daniel Faalele - Offensive Tackle - Minnesota

Image
6’8 387 Senior Write-Up: Daniel Faalele is a mammoth of a tackle prospect coming out of Minnesota. Standing at 6’8, 387, the senior displays a surprising amount of fluidness and technical skill despite his size and relative newness to the positions (he mainly played rugby and some basketball before switching to football coming into college). Faalele is a solid run and pass blocker and excels on shutting down one rusher, cutting him out of the play entirely. Most of the time, when Faalele gets his hands on a defender they have little to no chance of staying in the play. Again despite his size, he displays a good, fluid jump off the line in his blocks and can catch rushers off guard who think he will be a lot slower than he actually is. When he does get beat on outside rushes, his insane length and reach helps him keep with speedy rushers and force them wide more often than not. In the run game, Faalele excels at utilizing his body to create holes and space for runners by putting it in

(2022) Tyquan Thornton - Wide Receiver - Baylor

Image
6’3 182 lbs   Senior Write-Up: Tyquan Thornton is a lanky wide receiver out of Baylor who is an intriguing developmental player at the NFL level. At 6’3, 182 lbs, he offers a long, wiry frame that is both a strength and a detriment to his game. Thornton lined up mainly on the outside at Baylor, but also oftentimes in the slot. The Bears were mainly a run-first offense, which limited Thornton’s opportunities, as well as their QB not having the strongest or most accurate arm. When Thornton was utilized in the receiving game, he displayed a good amount of speed and catching ability. In one on one coverage, Thornton has the ability to win off the line and use his speed to outpace defenders down the field. He is able to high-point the football well while maintaining body control even despite his light frame. He has a large catch radius and can fight through some contact to make a reception, and is dependable in making the catch most times. While his route running ability is not bad, he st

(2022) Treylon Burks - Wide Receiver - Arkansas

Image
6’3 225 lbs Junior Write-Up: Treylon Burks is a large Wide Receiver, playing at 6’3, 225 lbs, who was used in a variety of roles at Arkansas, though he lined up mostly from the slot. Burks is a tremendous athlete who has great burst and speed to pair with his large frame. He was utilized in nearly every way possible at Arkansas, from the slot, to the outside, to screens and jet sweeps. This versatility allowed him to get the ball often and his burst allowed him to rack up yardage even on short throws or runs. While he is not the strongest receiver, especially for his size, he will shed tacklers at a high rate with the ball in his hands. While his footwork is not elite, he does have the ability to make defenders miss at times. Burks has an outstanding catch radius thanks to his size and is incredible at high-pointing the football and out-muscling defenders to make the catch. His hands are incredibly solid and he will make jaw-dropping catches at times. He has the speed and power to outw

(2022) David Bell - Wide Receiver - Purdue

Image
6’2  205 lbs Junior Write-Up: David Bell, a 6’2, 205 pound Junior out of Purdue is a technically sound and physical wide receiver. He put up fantastic production in a limited Purdue offense and debatably outperformed NFL receiver Rondale Moore in the few games both played together in 2020.  While he lined up mostly outside at Purdue, Bell’s skillset has also been shown to translate well into a slot role at times as well.  Though Bell lacks elite level speed, he is a highly intelligent and skilled route runner with plenty of moves to create initial separation both at release and during a route. He is phenomenal at creating leverage and body position against opposing DBs and is not afraid of using physicality to do so. In doing this, he also excels at creating contact and potential for DPI calls. He not only has very solid and dependable hands, his catch radius is also quite large as he displays the ability to high-point the football very well. Bell does not shy away from contact with

(2022) Isaiah Spiller - Running Back - Texas A&M

Image
6'1 225 lbs Junior  Write-Up: Isaiah Spiller is a Junior running back who comes in at 6’1, 225 lbs. Spiller is extremely elusive while not being the most powerful. He has elite-level acceleration and is very explosive through holes and running lanes. Paired with this, Spiller is a very patient runner, and waits for better opportunities to open up rather than run downhill immediately. His strongest part of his game is his shiftiness and he displays great footwork on nearly every run. Spiller is able to utilize cutback lanes extremely well and is dependable to shed a tackle or two when he has the ball. While his speed is not off the charts, he possesses enough speed paired with his explosiveness to break runs to the outside if need be. Spiller is a dependable run blocker, especially on chip blocks, but may be overpowered by NFL-level rushers without help. He can be utilized in the receiving game, as a shifty screen/checkdown target, but his footwork also allows him to be a solid rout
