Write-Up:

Adetomiwa Adebawore is a 3 year starter out of Northwestern who put up 93 total pressures and 17 sacks in 4 seasons of playing time. He did miss the first half of the 2020 season, but has been available for every game since. As a Wildcat, Adebawore lined up mainly as a 5-technique, 4i, or 3-tech.

Adebawore is listed at 6’2, 280 lbs which can make him a bit of a tough player to place into a specific defensive role. Northwestern mainly used him as a defensive end and occasionally moved him inside as a 3-tech. He has a really stout and solid frame, with an impressive amount of reach despite his relatively short stature. He also possesses quite a lot of quickness for somebody playing around 280 lbs. This is especially apparent when Adebawore gets to run in the open field, as he is incredibly dangerous in pursuit. As a pass rusher, Adebawore excels at using his frame to create leverageable positions mainly to the interior of a blocker. He possesses an effective rip move along with consistent hand usage to force blockers into tough positions. His effort level is always apparent on the field, and he very rarely takes a play off.

While his size does give him some advantages, it does make Adebawore a very hard player to project into a role in the NFL. He lacks the speed off the line that is desired from a true pass rusher, but does not have the size or strength to be an interior player either. His biggest weakness as a pass rusher is his lack of burst off the line at times. Adebawore is very inconsistent off the line and can often be one of the last players to move. This really limits him as a rusher as he really struggles to create pressure with outside maneuvers. He lacks the bendiness to work his way around the edge blocker and reach back to the QB. In general, Adebawore was quite a predictable player as a pass rusher, really relying on just a few simple maneuvers (though they are effective). Another concern with Adebawore is his amount of missed tackles. It hit a career high 24.5% this season, and the tape backs this up. He often can get much too overzealous and overplay himself when trying to finish the play.

Overall, Adetomiwa Adebawore is a tough player to project at the next level. He creates a lot of interior pressure and always plays hard, but his size makes him a bit of a “tweener” at the next level. There are also concerns with his get off and tackling that may scare some teams away. However, there is still a lot to like with Adebawore, and the potential to carve out a role definitely exists.

Draft Projection: Late Round 3-4
