Write-Up:

Isaiah Foskey is a very productive edge rusher out of Notre Dame, where he spent 4 years, 2 as a full-time starter. He saw most of his playing time as a 5-tech defensive end, but did see some snaps at outside linebacker and as a wide-9. He has been reliably healthy, having not missed a game in the past 2 seasons.

Foskey is an extremely high effort player who benefits from having a great frame. He has very long arms that help him create first contact with opposing blockers, and Foskey has quick and powerful hands that make a big impact when they connect. This combination of length and power is the main way Foskey tends to win his pass rush reps, though he also possesses decent speed and bendiness to win to the outside. He has good lateral quickness that can help him get leverage and space. Foskey is an intelligent run defender, and generally plays his role well, whether that is to hold the edge or force his way inside and clog up run lanes. He is fantastic in pursuit and is one of the most secure tacklers in the draft class. Foskey is a good block shedder as well, although he can be a bit slow in breaking free at times.

Despite how intelligent of a player Foskey is, he does have some aspects of his game to really clean up. He often plays much too tall and a little bit stiff, when he really does not need to. With how impactful his hands can be, he really should be more consistent with using them, especially in regards to his placement. If he fails to make first contact, opposing blockers can really knock him off target. Foskey could really benefit from a diversified pass rushing arsenal, and that would go a long way to becoming a more consistent pass rusher.

Overall, Isaiah Foskey is a really intriguing blend of burst, power and length that will grab the attention of the NFL. He plays with really powerful hands and always seems to be in a good position to make a play. However, he does need to become a more consistent pass rusher and has some mechanical aspects to clean up. Foskey projects to be a high-upside player who can contribute as a rotational player at first.
