Write-Up:

Keion White is an older, but high upside edge rusher out of Georgia Tech. White began his career at Old Dominion, where he played his first collegiate season as a TE. In 2019, White made the switch to defensive end, where his athleticism immediately made him a productive player (45 pressures, 5 sacks) despite how new he was to the position. He opted out of the 2020 season and transferred to Georgia Tech, but ended up missing the majority of the 2021 season with an ankle injury. Finally this season, White played his first full Power 5 season and was one of the best edge rushers in the ACC.

When watching White, his athleticism pops off the screen. For a big guy, White is an incredible mover, especially in space. His footwork is very fluid and has a ton of juice off the line of scrimmage. White’s ability to create power is just as noteworthy. He uses his strong lower half to drive blockers back, and utilizes a powerful punch to knock them off balance. He is great at angling his rushes to attack blockers at different leverage points. As a run defender, White’s athletic talents allow him to quickly close off gaps. He is an awesome edge setter and has enough length to make it very hard for runners to get around him.

There are times where White’s inexperience at the position does show up on tape, however. In most aspects, White could benefit from some polish and coaching. His hand placement can be inconsistent, and he can sometimes struggle with play recognition, both side effects of his past as a TE. He has a few good pass rush moves, but could benefit from adding to his arsenal overall. If White is to move to a more interior role, he is going to need to bulk up a little bit.

Overall, Keion White is an inexperienced edge rusher with a ton of upside and athletic ability. He moves so well and has inside and outside versatility, but lacks the polish a player needs to truly become great at the next level. Even if Keion White never becomes a true game-wrecker, he should be a plug-and-play rotational defensive end at the very least. There is plenty of upside to become an every down player as well.
