Write-Up:

Thomas Incoom is an intriguing developmental edge rusher who has played the last two collegiate seasons at Central Michigan. Incoom began his college football career playing at Valdosta State, a D2 program. After spending his 2018 and 2019 seasons there, Incoom sat out the 2020 season before transferring to Central Michigan. As a Chippewa, Incoom spent most of 2021 as a rotational player who produced extremely well (30 pressures, 7 sacks) despite his limited snap count. As a full-blown starter in 2022, Incoom turned in a great season production-wise.

Incoom’s pure athleticism pops off the screen when watching him play. He has the size and length desired by most NFL teams, and displays elements of power rushing ability in his game. His best trait however is easily his explosiveness. Incoom is very twitchy and is already very good at timing the snaps, which allows him to use his strong lower half to create great burst and power off the snap. Despite not being very polished in his rushing attack, his explosiveness will catch unaware and slower blockers and put them into very tough positions. This translated against higher competition as well. In 2021, Incoom put up 8 pressures and 4 QB hits against LSU, and he put up 6 pressures against Penn State in 2022, largely lined up against top 2024 tackle Olu Fashanu.

As mentioned a little bit above, Incoom is extremely raw right now. He relies on his explosiveness and speed to beat blockers, and does not possess very many attacking or counter rush moves. If a tackle can catch his initial rush, Incoom can struggle to create pressure from there. He has shown development in his collegiate career, but it may be a much steeper hill for him to climb to become a successful player in the NFL. Compounding on that, Incoom can overextend on rushing plays and does not always take great tackling angles, leaving him vulnerable as a run defender.

Overall, Thomas Incoom has plenty of explosiveness and athletic ability to become a good NFL player, but has to go through a good amount of development in order to achieve his high ceiling. There is hope, with his production against higher level competition, that he can reach that level, because there is plenty of talent here.

Draft Projection:  Round 4-5
